Our History

Our family of Bible believers has been gathering in the Circleville area of North Huntingdon Township, Westmoreland County, PA since 1852 (before the Civil War), originally meeting as “class meetings” on the Miller Circuit. As the congregational family grew, we became a part of the McKeesport Circuit of the Methodist Episcopal Church and built our first building in 1872.  In over 170 years––like all families––we have experienced changes, hardships, and blessings.  Our Methodist Episcopal Church became the Methodist Church in 1939. Shortly after a building remodel in 1950, the building was destroyed by fire.  The current building was rebuilt in 1953. The blessing of further congregational growth resulted in the building of an addition in 1968.  This was the same time that the Methodist Church merged with the Evangelical United Brethren Church to become the United Methodist Church.  Continued building upgrades provide friendly access to worship with us. Throughout the years, this church family has been blessed with members who truly care about all others.  Prayer, Class Meetings, and Band Meetings as designed by John Wesley in the Methodist tradition are central to the people of Circleville Church.  In 2023, we became a part of the Global Methodist Church following the same biblical and relationship principles that have guided us from our beginnings. We are always looking for ways to help more people along their spiritual journey to grow deeper in their faith.  We would love to hear how we can help you become closer to Christ.
